Thinking about taking diet pills to lose weight? You better think again.

Many people are so keen in losing weight that they are willing to try even the potentially dangerous and unproven pills. The providers of some of these potentially unsafe dietary pills make overstated promises about the features and benefits of their drugs without the support of clinical research. Truth to be told, any substances or pills that promise to help you shed pounds fast and easy may hold hidden dangers to your health.

But despite the risk, the demand for diet supplements continues to rise, particularly among women with eating disorders. Over 50% of obesity or eating disorder cases rely on over-the-counter diet pills or diet supplements with positive belief that they will lose weight as quickly as possible. Unless it was prescribed by your doctor or required for legitimate medical reasons, your health is at always risk.

Never take diet pills for weight loss, it could be fatal due to the following reasons;

Illegal Claims On Labels

Not all diet supplement labels are true. Some of them are full of false claims with 20% out of 127 dietary supplements sold in the market have made illegal claims on their labels as reported by the Department of Health and Human Services in the United States.

No Guarantee

Since diet pills do not require approval from FDA and are directly offered in the market, there’s no guarantee they are safe and effective to use. With so many manufacturers and dealers out there, it can be hard to identify which products are legit or not until adverse effects are reported to the authority.

It’s Highly Addictive

Some diet pills contain highly addictive substances such as amphetamine and antidepressant drugs. Abusing these substances may cause psychological changes to the brain and will put your life at risk.


Many of such drugs contained a combination of caffeine and other diuretics which cause dehydration, resulting a decrease on the scale. Some may believe it’s fat loss, but it’s not and the water weight will return eventually. Further, excessive water loss or dehydration can be dangerous to your system.

Multiple Side Effects

Diet pills are reported to have multiple side effects because it has fat blockers that decline nutrient intakes and may cause stomach problems. Other well known side effects include high blood pressure, insomnia, nervousness, headache, nausea and vomiting.

Not Sustainable

Weight loss pills have short term effects and will not motivate you to change your eating and lifestyle habits. Taking diet pills is not sustainable and it won’t keep your weight off forever.
