Food and Nutrition experts say, if you are a woman, your waistline should measure no more than 35 inches. If you’re a man, you can be safe at 40 inches. Beyond these magic numbers, however, you may have to start thinking about cutting your food intake. There is an easier – though not less potentially embarrassing – way. Stand up straight and look down, do you see your toes? If something is blocking the way, namely your tummy, that too is a signal that a change in eating habits should be on the way.

Speaking of eating habits, many people promised to change their eating behavior by going vegetarian with thoughts that it could help them stay in shape and lose weight quickly. Before we jump to the conclusion that going vegan really isn’t a magic diet for weight loss, let’s understand what veganism or vegan is all about.

A vegan refers to: a strict vegetarian or one who consumes no animal food or dairy products. That means a vegan eats no pork, beef or even chicken. Cheese and milk are also not part of a vegan’s diet. A vegan eats only dishes made of fish and vegetables. It might look like becoming a vegetarian is the ultimate solution to weight, but truth be told, there are certain challenges and considerations behind that claim.

The Truth About Vegan Diet

Experts say, there’s no assurance in losing weight through a vegan diet. Many people have gained misleading belief that being vegan means you can eat a lot, and eat as much as you wanted. Some people quickly developed a bad eating habit without them knowing it while patting themselves on the back for eating healthy foods. But later on, they will become an overeater because they used to eating a lot of volume each day. Consequently, going vegan doesn’t automatically mean you’re getting healthier or consuming less food than usual.

To lose weight and keep it off, you have to utilize your meal plans and good lifestyle consistently. You have to determine and be disciplined enough to follow the required amount of food you need to eat in a day. You have to pay attention to the total calories and portion sizes of the food you consume, too. It doesn’t matter if you’re a vegan, a paleo or a low carb eater, if your goal is to lose weight, you have to be aware of certain aspects that are involved in it rather than just focusing on your diet, alone.
